Property Prices set to Skyrocket in South East Queensland

DD: Time to catch up again with property expert, Jason Dwyer… managing director of station sponsor, Dwyer Property Investments.  Jason and his brother, Wayne – owner of Dwyer Quality Homes – have been helping locals successfully invest in property on the Sunshine Coast for more than three decades.

Jason, we’re nearing the end of a very eventful year… one that many of us will be pleased to see the back of.   But there has been some good news in 2020 and it’s about a COVID property boom in Queensland…

JD: That’s true, Des.  New property data has just come out that shows COVID has had a very different impact to what was being reported, earlier in the year.

Four months ago, I was reassuring your listeners that the local housing market would not fall off a cliff, contrary to what some headlines were predicting.

The market has remained stable and I believe property prices are going to skyrocket in South East Queensland.

DD: Why makes you so confident…? 

JD: It’s largely due to demand being generated by migration.  More and more people want to move to our region to escape the southern pandemic and take advantage of our affordable, high-quality lifestyle.

Interstate lock-downs and working-from-home arrangements are driving this trend.  A lot of people have realised they don’t need to change jobs, to move house. 

Things are very different, now, in Australian workplaces.

DD: The Coast has always been an attractive place to invest.  You’re saying, Jason, COVID has made us even more popular with interstate investors and buyers...

JD: Exactly.  And there’s no reason locals can’t get their share of this terrific opportunity but… I urge them to act quickly.  Good land is harder to come by and that means prices will continue to rise.  

DD: What kind of growth are we talking about? 

JD: Economists at Westpac are forecasting a massive increase in property prices… up to twenty per cent over the next two years in South East Queensland.

Here on the Sunshine Coast, we’re well on the way.  We’re already seeing double-digit growth of around ten per cent.

DD: It sounds like one of the best Christmas presents people could shout themselves this year is an investment property! 

JD: You’re absolutely right, Des.  It could well be the best thing they ever buy… something with the very real potential to make them money, for many years to come.

DD: So what’s your advice to people who want to invest in this market, right now…?

JD: Well, the first thing I’d say is, don’t miss out!  Experts agree.  There’s never been a better time to buy property on the Sunshine Coast.  Strong potential capital growth of between ten and twenty per cent could set you up for the future.
